Nokia Asha and Android samrtphones at MWC 2014

Nokia has announced its new flagship of smartphones for the first time that are based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), that can run Android apps and are powered by Microsoft and Nokia services. Nokia has the three new series phones at MWC Nokia X, Nokia X+, and Nokia XL. All three phones come with 3G support and are of Micro-SIM slot.

Here Nokia X and Nokia X+ are the two dual-SIM phones these have come with 4-inch 480x800 displays and are powered by 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Both the phones Nokia X and Nokia X+ are having the 4GB of internal storage and also has the expandable support, it can support  up to 32GB via microSD card. These are powered by a 1500mAh battery. Both pones are having a 3-megapixel rear camera, but has no front camera.

The both phones are looking same in design and the major change in these both are the Nokia X has come with 512MB RAM, the Nokia X+ has come with 768MB RAM.

While coming to Nokia XL, it has come with a 5-inch 480x800 display, a 5-megapixel camera, a 720p front camera, 768MB RAM and a 2000mAh battery.

Nokia Asha and Android smartphones at MWC 2014



The Nokia X will go on sale immediately,
UR 89 (approximately Rs. 7,500 not including duties and taxes) in Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Nokia X+  price: EUR 99 (approximately Rs. 8,400 not including duties and taxes)
Nokia XL price: EUR 109 (approximately Rs. 9,300 not including duties and taxes).

These two phones are expected to roll out in to market by the mid of this year.

The three devices of course is the highly customised version of Android, with  access to Nokia's own store. There is no access to Google Play Store. Nokia has used AOSP corresponding to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the baseline for its operating system.

The three phones come with free cloud storage from Microsoft's OneDrive (earlier called SkyDrive). With the purchase of any Nokia phone of this series smartphone in market, people will get one month of Skype's Unlimited World Subscription for a limited time.

Both the Nokia X and Nokia X+ will be available in bright green, bright red, cyan, yellow, black and white. The Nokia XL will be available in bright green, orange, cyan, yellow, black and white.

Nokia Asha 230:


The Asha 230 is a full-touch operated device. It has a 2.8″ of the QVGA (320 x 240) resolution and clocks in at 142 pixels per inch. The plastics used in the Asha 230 feel even lesser in quality compared to the Nokia 220. The Asha 230 is 89.3 g. The Asha 230 comes with a 1020 mAh battery that’s good according to Nokia. Talk time over 2G is rated at 11 hours. To complete the tally there’s a 1.3 MP camera on board.

Nokia Asha 220:


The Nokia 220 is a non-touch device, the 220 comes with only 2G connectivity. The plastic used in the 220 isn’t the best but feels okay to the touch. The phone is very thick at 13.2 mm for starters. The 2.4″ QVGA LCD offers an unimpressive 166 ppi but has good colors. The camera is of 2 MP, 1600x1200 pixels, it also has microSD expandable up to 32 GB The 220 weighs a manageable 83.6 g.
